Why do you believe citizen participation in investigation and giving all the information about the President election's financial resources to the reporters is so important? Is it worth doing so?

The information that was passed on to the reporters from the citizens was crucial to the stories that were published. Without it, it is unlikely that the stories could have been published.

The top secret security clearances prevented the reporters from gathering information from public sources. It should come as no surprise that the President has resources to protect information relating back to himself. This, along with the many loyal people to the President caused the reporters to get stonewalled many times.

The information from the citizens ended up being one of only a few sources. Many of the citizens with inside knowledge spoke because they were upset about anything illegal going on. The little bits of information that gave the reporters informed them enough to "put the pieces of the puzzle together."

Armed with the tidbits of information from the citizens, the reporters were able to persuade, confuse, and trick others into giving them even more knowledge. All of this bloomed out of one source.

This story truly blazed trails in the world of investigative reporting. It altered history. Not only was high levels of corruption exposed, but this lead to the impeachment of the President of the United States. The outcome from an investigative report does get much bigger than that.
