What is mass communications?

Examining the multiple theories of mass communication develops a unique insight as to what mass communications is truly about.

Several focal points exist in relations to communicating to the people. A mass amount of people should have defined limitations. The mass of people should not be related. The mass of people should be separated and not in a large cluster. The mass should include a wide variety of subjects. Most importantly, the mass should not have leadership.

The text defined communication as the transfer of media from one person to another. Communications is the process in which that transfer takes place.

Therefore mass communications is the process of delivering a transfer of medium or media to a large group of people that have no real association with each other.

The purpose of this mass communication can vary greatly. The book specifically highlights some examples as to entertain or to "rock the boat" by arguing and being controversial. The text also highlights how the media being transmitted can reflect the bias views of the sender. So it becomes important to understand that with mass communications the context of the material, the language, and the exposure it taken into consideration.

Mass communications cannot be escaped. It is seen, heard, and felt every single day. It is aimed at everybody and should be studied and then understood.
