You are the President of CBS. You have been summoned to Washington to explain your network’s behavior in the quiz show affair before a public session of congress, which passes laws regulating the broadcasting industry. Explain how the quiz show scandals affected CBS and how you propose to get out of this mess.

The quiz show scandals have discredited the entire CBS network.  The public has lost faith in the network anymore.  That is not limited to just the entertainment aspect but also the news broadcasting functions of CBS that will not be criticized and scrutinized by the public.  No acceptable reason exists to deceive the public and break the trust and faith that the public had with us.

This network is committed to restoring the faith the public invested in us at one time.  This will of course be an uphill battle.  The first step is apologizing to the public.  CBS is incredible sorry that it failed to discover this deception.  CBS will be holding all involved parties responsible which will include asking for resignation.  CBS is committed to making this right.

A committee will be established that will oversee the moral and ethical standards of CBS and its programming.  We believe that quiz shows offer both valuable entertainment and an opportunity for the everyday person to transform their lives.  We will continue to bring this quality entertainment, but not before finding a way to prevent any further deception.

As the President of this great network, I am personally responsible for its operations.  I am guilty.  I did not perform my job.  This was unacceptable and the public deserves better.  It is my promise to restore this network to what it has been and what it has always been capable of.
