How did the computer make the transition to every day technology?

Computers started as a way for large business, the government, and scientists to perform tasks.  The technology started as a way to exercise control and process and store information.  It was the ability to store information that really helped the computer.  When film had binary code attached to it, it could be read by a computer and stored and processed.  The made the media become a new kind of media.

Computers of course grew because the invention of microprocessors that gave computing power a more reasonable size for the home.  The computer was still only used for programs that operated on it. The internet really started making a computer a must have appliance.  Having access to all the information that is linked together is what really drove computer sales.  The internet offered endless entertainment.

That internet wouldn’t have become so popular if it wasn’t for the invention of a browser that could handle pictures and not just text.  Information and communication continues to bridge the gap.  In this situation the communication, messages, and media available on the internet made the computer such a popular device.

New devices such as smart phones, tablets, and internet TVs continue to use this fascination the public has.
