Explain how the office of War Information contributed to positive public relations for WWII.

The American Government wanted to earn the support of the American people when entering the war effort.  The war required that many young men go overseas and risk their lives.  This also meant that food, metals, and other supplies would need to be rationed out.  Entering the war would come at a cost for everybody.  Support from the American people was vital.

To recruit young men to enlist in the military, the iconic posters of Uncle Sam stating “We Want You!” comes to mind.  This gave a sense of purpose to young men that were easily influenced when searching for their place in life.

Propaganda was issued which depicted the enemies in unflattering lights.  While posters of the men serving in the war were shown as brave young souls.

Constant communication was kept with the public letting them know about the progress of the war.  It was usually positive wins showing that a victory would soon happen.
